
Volunteer Role Description: Warehouse
Role: Warehouse Volunteer

Location: TBC, central Fife
​
Main Tasks:

Taking receipt of incoming donations – helping to unload cars and bring boxes and bags of donations into warehouse.

Unpacking donations from boxes and bags and disposing of packaging.
-
Sorting through and checking donated items and allocating to age/gender appropriate gift area in warehouse.
-
Picking and packing gifts into gift bags for specific age/gender categories.
-
Moving full gift bags around warehouse.
-
Labelling gift bags as required.
-
Keeping the warehouse tidy.
-
Loading cars with donations and interacting with beneficiary organisations on collection day.

Emptying / tidying warehouse once the Appeal is completed.

Maintaining a safe system of work to ensure the safety of all volunteers and all donations are protected from damage.

Bringing any concerns to the attention of warehouse lead on shift.

Time Commitment:
The warehouse will be open at pre-arranged times. There are various shifts available, including evenings Mon-Sun, weekend days and a small number of weekdays. We are mainly flexible as to start/ finish time. We may also have other roles available, which may involve working from home at various times.

Other requirements:

To always maintain confidentiality; when volunteering in the warehouse you will become aware of our beneficiary organisations and potentially named individual beneficiaries, depending on role. It is essential to retain those individuals right to dignity and respect by ensuring confidentiality is maintained.

To respect all donations and always treat them with care. Donations should be treated carefully, and instructions regarding storage and organisation should be followed.

To direct any concerns in the first instance to the warehouse lead on shift.

To notify us as far in advance as possible if unable to carry out an agreed role / attend at an agreed time.
